Franz Knapp is the founding principal stonemason at Rockcraft and the business's driving force. Passionate, creative and committed, he brings more than 25 years experience to every job and is one of Western Australia's most sought after stonemasons.
Franz first began building with stone as a teenager at 17 years of age, having already developed a reverence for the craft and the aesthetic it creates. As a young man learning and perfecting his craft, he worked on high-end architectural builds and, in the process, developed a keen eye for detail and a knack for traditional craftsmanship.
Franz believes that each stone he works with is incredibly unique and tells a particular story. To create work that is both long lasting and elegant, it is essential to know the intricacies of how to use, shape and assemble each piece into a beautiful, natural end product.
A devotee of life long learning, Franz remains committed to refining his craft every day and deepening an understanding of the natural building material he has chosen which has laid the foundation for Rockcraft as it stands today.
